This module is part of a 3 part series called
The Complete Harmonium Player.
Modules can be taken individually, provided you meet the prerequisites listed for each, or combined at a discounted rate.
develop your ear for voice & Harmonium
In this course you will develop your ability to hear music in a more deep and refined way through ear training and listening exercises within the context of devotional music, primarily kirtan. Building on an understanding of scales and chords, we will study intervals (the space between notes), learn how to find notes on the harmonium by listening to recordings, and how to transpose music into different keys.
To participate, you need to either have completed module 1 of this series or already be familiar with western note names and have a basic understanding of playing and constructing a major scale.
We will cover: training your voice and ear through singing exercises (Solfeggio system), how to identify the space (interval) between notes, how to sing different intervals.
You will be given homework assignments each week and will be encouraged to spend time study and practicing in between classes.
