In this 5 day course, we will explore the mantras and prayers of the Bhakti Yoga tradition and the practice of kirtan accompanied by the harmonium. Bhakti Yoga is centered around developing love for and devotion to Krishna. Music and mantra plays an important role in this tradition as chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra is recommended as one of the most important practices during the current age we’re living in. The harmonium is a wonderful companion to support your voice in chanting. In addition to learning different Maha Mantra melodies, we will also learn kirtan glorifying Krishna in his different forms, Radha, and other prayers connected to Bhakti Yoga.  

This course will feature esteemed guest appearances by teachers Acyuta Gopi and Gaura Vani, who are deeply immersed in Bhakti Yoga culture and philosophy, as well as expert musicians and kirtan leaders. They will each lead a 1 hour session.

Class includes 1-2 new chants/songs each day, downloadable music notation and audio, and downloadable video playback that you can have for a lifetime. Additionally, each student with get 1 private 30 minute private coaching session with Seth.

Class size is kept small to allow for a more intimate, interactive experience. Space is limited and registration closes on Friday, June 17th.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Basic knowledge of how to play the harmonium - this course is not for complete beginners

  • Knowledge of Western notes names on the keyboard

  • You have a harmonium

Students must provide their own harmonium.

Class size is limited to allow for more personal attention and a more intimate, group experience. Early registration is recommended to ensure a space.

Lead Teacher

Seth Lieberman

Seth Lieberman

Seth Lieberman is a musician and yoga teacher residing in the Hudson Valley of New York. A lifelong music maker, he studied music composition, theory, clarinet, and piano at the University of Maryland, where he received BA in Music. During his 10 years of time living in Brooklyn, NY, he completed 3 different yoga teacher trainings. Seth has joined his two passions of music and yoga through playing and teaching the harmonium, leading kirtan, and creating original music related to mantra and yoga. He has been actively teaching harmonium both online and in-person for the past 8 years and has helped bring the joy of mantra and music to many students throughout the world.

Gaura Vani Buchwald

Gaura was born into an American Hare Krishna family and left the US at age six for a gurukula (temple school) in the holy city of Vrindavan, India. He studied ancient Sanskrit and Bengali prayers, learned to play traditional instruments and sing sacred music. He has been sharing this music ever since. Gaura Vani has become a defining force in the current explosion of Mantra Music in the Western world spearheaded by the artists like Jai Uttal, Wah! and Krishna Das.

Acyuta Gopi

For as long as Acyuta can remember, Kirtan or the Bhakti Yoga practice of mantra meditation through music has been the focus of her life. She has had the amazing fortune to travel the world singing, writing, and witnessing those heart transformations that she love so much, first hand. She’s conducted workshops, classes and seminars on kirtan that have absolutely changed her life for the better. Now along with her family, she focused her efforts on the NYC community and pours her heart into the beautiful practices of Kirtan, writing, and the incredibly transformative tradition of Bhakti Yoga.
